Your mission
Customers love our product but our funnel still leaks. Activation can climb. So can retention. We don't have a referral system yet, and our brand is still to be built.
Your mission: take this suite of leaks in hand, talk to users daily, read Amplitude the way some people read Twitter, run A/B tests that actually teach you something, ship the designs, and lay down a visual identity we'll be proud of.
What you'll have done in 12 months
- Five to ten user calls per week. At least one research session per month. The insights feed the roadmap.
- You call customers who churn to understand why and you document all of it.
- Up to five well-designed A/B tests running in parallel in production at any time — hypothesis, primary metric, guardrails, binary decision documented. Not ten biased tests.
- Figma design system used 100% in production. CR brand book defined and applied everywhere.
- You ship simple PRs yourself with Claude Code (A/B tests, landing pages, paywalls, copy). Zero devs bothered for these tasks.
- Activation funnel and 30-day retention measurably improved and documented.
- A React Native mobile redesign you're proud of when you release it.
Your first 90 days
Month 1. You do 2 to 5 user calls per day to fully understand their needs and frustrations. You map the funnel in Amplitude. You produce a doc with the three biggest leaks and your hypotheses to fix them. You ship your first A/B. You fix the issues on our Amplitude tracking.
Month 3. You own the Figma design system. You've shipped three A/B tests, at least one with a conclusive outcome. You've finished the mobile redesign and it's in prod. The AARRR metrics are measurably improving.
Month 6. You own the end-to-end UX on mobile and web. You ship simple frontend PRs yourself. You drive the design rituals (reviews, A/B tests, user calls).
Who we're looking for
- You've shipped a B2B or B2C Mobile and SaaS product in production with paying users. You can show us your work and talk about impact.
- You don't confuse UI and UX: you can design things that make the product easier to use, not just prettier.
- You're fluent in Amplitude (or equivalent) in practice. Funnels, cohorts, retention curves, no hesitation.
- You can structure an A/B test properly: hypothesis, metric, guardrails, sample size, duration, decision.
- You can code a bit via Cursor or Claude Code. You push simple PRs without bothering anyone.
- You have a real brand sense.
- You're comfortable talking to users, running user research, and pulling actionable insights from those conversations. You can run a research session (interviews, prototypes, tests).
Nice to have. You've worked on a full activation/retention funnel. You've shipped a brand from A to Z. You're active in the design/product community.
This role isn't for you if
- You wait for a PM to write specs before opening Figma.
- You refuse to touch brand ("I only do UX") or marketing design.
- You've never talked directly to a user.
- Your portfolio is 80% Dribbble mockups without product context.
- You refuse to use AI in your workflow.
